Message to our patients from St Mary's Island Surgery re: Care Quality Commission report
The CQC have rated St Mary's Island Surgery as GOOD. We would like to thank all of our patients for their support and feedback. Please help us to continue to improve our services by joining our Virtual Patient Participation Group.
Named Accountable GP
All practices are required to provide their patients with a named accountable GP who will take responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services required under the contract and ensure they are delivered to each of their patients where required (based on the clinical judgement of the named accountable GP). This does not prevent you or restrict you from seeing any other GP or nurse in the practice. The named GP will not take on vicarious responsibility for the work of other doctors or health professionals and does not imply personal availability or be the only GP or clinician who will provide care.
Your named GP is Dr S Lawrence
Friends and Family Test
The NHS Friends and Family Test was created to help service providers and commissioners understand whether their patients are happy with the service provided, or where improvements are needed. It is a quick and anonymous way to give your views after receiving care or treatment across the NHS.
We are happy to report that over the last 12 months 95% of those that responded would be extermely likely or likely to recommend St Mary's Island Surgery.
Red Card List
Our inhouse 'Red Card' list system allows for expedited access for vulnerable patients who, owing to the severity of their illness or circumstances, might require ongoing urgent attention. This decision for inclusion is made following clinical assessment and the patient, parent or carer will be informed. This is a dynamic list and the patients may enter or leave the list depending on their clinical circumstances.
We now offer a 'Carer's Clinic'. This service is in recognition of the valuable contribution that unpaid carers selflessly offer to other registered patients. If you are a carer please use our online registration form. We have a dedicated staff member who will support and signpost carers to various support services and inform them of any financial support to which they may be entitled.
School Lifestyle Design Competition
Do you have a child at primary school? We are planning to run a competition through the Medway Primary Schools starting in the new school term. Children from your school will be invited to design a poster with healthy lifestyle messages for children and a separate one for parents. The winning posters will be displayed in the participating surgeries. Please look out for future developments.
'My Story' - Patients' successes
Throughout the course of healthcare delivery, we periodically witness situations where patients have extraordinary improvements in their health through lifestyle changes. We feel that offering a platform for patients willing to share their accomplishments offers encouragement which may be of great inspiration to others. If you wish to write a brief blog sharing your success story, please send details to the surgery email address.
